For the 2nd year in a row, CCA Envision Cinema has won the national Natural High PSA contest. Sponsored by Natural High®, Producers of NATURALHIGH.TV and the educational Natural High® DVD Series, the national contest asked young people to express via video, picture or essay their Natural High (activities they enjoy) and how using drugs and alcohol could keep them from pursuing their Natural High to the fullest. The winning video in the High School Video Category was a group entry belonging to CCA students Sam Cook, Jack Parzaile, and Brice Lampe. Envision Cinema Student Alex Powell, a CCA sophomore, was just selected as one of ten students to participate in the San Diego Asian Film Festival Reel Voices Program. This intense, 12-week summer internship helps students become socially conscious storytellers, learn Final Cut Pro editing, and experience all stages of production and post-production. Students receive a $500 scholarship for their work, which premieres at the annual San Diego Asian Film Festival in October. The films are also packaged onto a DVD and travels to other film festivals around the country including Los Angeles Film Festival, Urban Visionaries, Asian Cinevision, and Human Rights Watch International Film Festival. Reel Voices films are also available free On-Demand on digital Time Warner Cable, channel 144.
